Goals
Goals allow you to group campaigns into longer running organisational units, so you can track success against key campaign milestones across multiple campaigns. Using goals allows you to have multiple campaigns in Movement, which are all focused towards the same end. For example, when running a get out the vote operation for a ballot, you can track who has told you they have voted across all your campaigns. So if a member tells you they voted in a phone bank, text, WhatsApp or through external activity, they can be counted and excluded from further communications easily.
Creating a single goal you can track across your campaigns means you can keep track of vital information. You simply set up a goal, set your milestones and assign campaigns and question answers to a goal. This way, you can keep track of performance against the overall goal, across campaigns and create audiences to target everyone who has or hasn't completed that goal.
Tip: You can use Automations to bring together multiple campaigns working towards the same goal and set exit rules for the automation to remove people once they have completed the goal - find out more about Automations here.
Step 1: Set up a goal
Set up a goal in: Settings > Manage goals > Create a goal > complete details > Create goal

Tip: You can choose to add an end date for the goal to help you keep track across a specific timeframe.

Step 2: Assign campaigns and questions answers to a goal
Assign campaigns to a goal:
When creating text/WhatsApp surveys, text/WhatsApp conversation and phone campaigns, you will have the option to assign the campaign to a goal. In the goal section of the campaign: select add > select the goal from the drop down:

Assign questions to a goal:
For phone campaigns and text/WhatsApp surveys with scripts, you can assign specific answers to a goal. Assigning to goal means if someone gives this answer they have completed the goal. When setting up your script check the box Completed the goal for [goal name] next to this answer:

For text/WhatsApp conversations where there is no script, a button with the goal label will appear on the users screen during the session. At any point in the conversation, the user can select the button to record that the person they are messaging has completed the goal.
Step 3: Keep track of performance
In the goals tab under campaigns you can view how many people have met the goal tracked against time and quickly view the campaigns under each goal.
Note: What you can view depends on your role/permissions. If you are logged in to a national organisation you will see performance across all areas. If you are logged in to a regional organisation, branch or workplace you will see the goal completions within your area or organisation.
Step 4: Use goal data to target or exclude everyone who has completed the goal.
Using the goal as a search criteria allows you to easily create audiences including or excluding people who have met the goal across any campaign within the goal. For example your get out the vote comms can exclude everyone who has already voted using a single search criteria.
To include everyone who has completed the goal select the completed goal search filter, select the the goal.

To exclude everyone who has completed the goal: select add exclude group > add the completed goal filter to the group > select the goal.
