Email templates
By creating email templates for each of your commonly sent emails, you can speed up sending your emails in Movement and have the same templates available for multiple users. You can add CSS elements including your default font as well as edit the header or footer code. The template will support Liquid templating language for any personalisation.
Note: You will need admin permissions to create and manage email templates
Follow our step by step guide below to create a new email template:
Step 1: Add an email template or edit your existing ones
To find your existing templates and create new ones, go to Settings and select Email Templates. Select Add to create a new template.
Here you will also see all the emails you have previously built. To edit one, select the hyperlinked name of the template. You can also clone your template if you want to make an iteration of previous one without having to start from scratch:

Step 2: Use the email builder to create your new template
If you want to create a new email template from scratch, select add and you'll be brought to the same email builder used when creating campaigns:
Tip: If you have an organisational hierarchy, you can set who will be able to view and use a particular template by checking the relevant box at the top

Name your template and then start building your template:
- Add CSS for formatting and fonts
- Add HMTL for the header and footer. Tip: you may be able to use the HMTL from your existing templates in other platforms
- Add email template blocks as needed: image, heading, paragraph, button, list, spacer, and divider. You'll initially be presented with all these options, then to add a new element, select the plus button above or below and pick one of the options again. You can reorder blocks using the up and down arrows.
Image
For images, you can hyperlink, set sizing (pixel or percent), change the alignment and add alt text.

Heading
You can add different sized headings and include merge tags to personalise your template for each recipient. You can set the heading style in the CSS for the template.

Paragraph
When adding text, you can include merge tags and hyperlinks. In templates, you may want to use merge tags to set your greeting.

Button
You can add buttons that can be hyperlinked to a website, email or phone number. You can edit the button text. For web addresses, you can include relevant merge tags, so the recipient will receive a personalised link, for example, to order a replacement ballot.

List
You can add new items to a list by selecting add list item. To edit an item, select on the text and a box will appear where you can edit the text and change the font type and size.

Spacer
Add additional spacing between blocks

Divider
Add a divider to clearly sperate the sections of your email

Once you are happy with your template, select save and then the finish button. You can go back to settings > email templates to edit your template at any time.
