WhatsApp onboarding overview
There are several steps to get setup on WhatsApp before you can start sending campaigns. You should allow 8 - 12 weeks between joining Movement and launching your first campaign to ensure smooth onboarding, with ample time for training and testing.
Onboarding will be tracked by your team and your account manager via a dynamic onboarding tracker but the table below gives an overview of the steps involved and who is responsible for actioning each:

1
Setting up your Movement account
Movement
When you're ready to go, we'll setup your Movement account and invite users from your organisation to be 'Super Admins'. You'll receive invites via email. Once you're logged in, you'll be able to manage additional users and edit roles and permissions.
2
Meet your Movement account manager
Movement account manager and your team
Your Movement account manager will message to introduce themselves and to arrange a time for an initial chat before onboarding gets underway. This is an opportunity for your team to get clarity on the onboarding process and ask any questions, as well as to chat with your account manager who will be supporting you through the onboarding process and beyond with Movement. It would be great to share your campaign plans and any key campaign dates in this call.
3
Training
Movement account manager and your team
If you’ve confirmed training as part of joining Movement, you can book that in with your account manager at a time that works with you and your team. The session can be recorded so you can always revisit it.
4
Compliance
Your team
You'll need to verify details about your organisation within Movement.
There's more information on this process here
5
Meta account setup
Your team: an admin on your Facebook business account
The process for setting up your WhatsApp business account is managed via Meta, through your Facebook business account.
It’s a step-by-step guided process, which needs to be completed by an admin for your Facebook business account. This process will need to be initiated within Movement.
There's more information on this process here
6
Top up your Movement account budget
Your team
Ensure your Movement account is in credit before moving to the next stages.
There's more information on how to do this here
7
Setup your WhatsApp sender
Movement and your team
When the above steps are complete, Movement will set up your WhatsApp sender - this includes buying the phone number associated with your WhatsApp business account, which you'll send from and setting up your WhatsApp profile. You'll need to share some information for your profile setup.
8
Signup link
Movement and your team
Your account manager will send over your signup link, which you can use to build your WhatsApp list. You can also set up custom short links if you would like to.
9
Create WhatsApp templates
Your team, with support from Movement account manager
Sends from a WhatsApp business account need to be made using pre-approved templates, so you’ll need to have some templates approved before your first send.
You can read more about WhatsApp templates here and how to create and use them here
10
Testing and ramping up
Your team, with support from Movement account manager
Before you launch your first big campaign, you'll need to send some test content and build your sender reputation with WhatsApp.
