How to create phone campaigns
From getting GOTV for a crucial ballot or vote to thanking supporters for donations, our phone tool is ideal for campaigns of any size.
Follow the steps below to set up your campaign and check out our other phone campaigns guidance for further tips and support!
Step 1: Create your phone campaign
Navigate to the campaigns, select the create campaign button and choose the phone option:

Step 2: Add your campaign name and description
Add a name for your campaign and a description if you would like to - this can be helpful if multiple people are working to build the campaign:

Step 3: Add a goal (optional)
You'll be presented with the campaign build flow. The first item is optional and allows you to attach a goal to your campaign. Goals allow you to group campaigns into longer running organisational units, so you can track success against key campaign milestones across multiple campaigns. Find out more here. If you would like to add a goal, select Add then select your goal from the drop down menu:

Tip: You can always select finish later at the top of the campaign build page to save as a draft at any time
Step 4: Set who you are calling
From the drop down menu here, you can add your campaign audience. If you haven't created an audience for the campaign yet, you can choose the option to do so. You can also adjust the subscription category from the drop down and check the box if you would like to automatically refresh the audience every hour - this will pull new members in who have joined the audience and exclude anyone who has left it:

Step 5: Set your calling from options
There are three options to choose from:
- Assign a random phone number
- Match geographic phone number to callee (if available)
- Pick one of my phone numbers (select from one of your pre-set phone numbers)
Step 6: Add instructions for callers
Add some instructions or a thank you message to callers, which will appear on their campaign page when accessing the campaign to begin making calls:

Step 7: Set up your script and questions
You can set a script for callers to follow, with particular questions to ask. Callers will be able to update answers on the interface during the call, meaning phone conversations can translate to easy to interpret data. There are several options here:
- Instruction
- Multiple choice question (one answer)
- Multiple select question (multiple answers)
- Single checkbox question
- Open question
- Ranking
- Send a text message
- Transfer the call

Step 8: Set users
Set which users can manage and take part in your campaign. It will default to your access level but you can change this by selecting Change Access and setting as you wish. You have the option to allow users to either view or take part.
Step 9: Adjust settings
Adjust settings for your campaign - there's full information on phone campaign settings here and an explainer of each within the campaign build flow:

Step 10: Preview and launch!
Preview your campaign script and audience to check everything is okay before selecting Launch to make your phone campaign live!

Once you've launched, your phone campaign will be ready for users to take part in. When you select your campaign from the campaign list, you'll be directed to a campaign overview page with all the information you need to check how things are going, including analytics, audience information and more.
